What is the Accord?

The Maitland Liquor Accord is an agreement based on a set of principles that all parties are required to implement in order to improve the safety and amenity of Maitland.  These principles are related, as harm is a community problem requiring a community response:
  • Commitment to being a good neighbour.
  • Cooperation with all the key players and the community to improve local outcomes.
  • Responsible service, sales or supply of alcohol is a legal requirement and a responsibility for all, particularly licensed premises and the hospitality and catering industry.
  • Success is dependent on participation in, and commitment to the Accord, and by consumers acting responsibly.
